I was thinking, if I had known I would be writing this sermon, I would not have included parts of this passage, in my original Easter message. The thought was; Bishop Andrew would preach on this passage at the combined service, which will not happen, (but at this point he is talking about a video to be sent to us at that time so more to come on this.)

Come, let us sing to the Lord; * let us shout for joy to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving * and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

I recently took part in a meeting on Zoom, the online platform that so many of us are now using. Before the meeting started, we shared stories about what was going on in our lives and our church communities. The stories and observations were insightful, inspiring – and yes, humorous. They helped to bring us together and alleviate some of the pressure we were all under.

I have been praying for you, without ceasing, as the days go by and the publications grow more intense. The Novel Coronavirus has arrived at our doorsteps and has come into our neighbourhoods, and we are being changed as a result. Let us not be afraid, rather, let us be courageous in communications and endeavours to connect with one another.

Today we honour Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, who brought Christianity to Ireland in the early 400s. He was born in Britain, and was kidnapped by Irish pirates who sold him into slavery in their homeland.

Jesus’ disciples ask him at the beginning; Rabbi who sinned the man or his parents? Jesus’ answer; he was born blind so that God’s work might be revealed in him. My first disrespectful thought is; Does this mean God is suffering from Munchausen syndrome by proxy?
